New Stamp Set - Big News

Here's an original design using the new set called Big News. It has a lot of fun occasion sayings that will come in handy. The color scheme is Bermuda Bay and Cherry Cobbler with Whisper White. The Designer Series Paper is retired but you could use any DSP of your choice and just change up the candle colors. The candles were colored with Gumball Green, Bermuda Bay, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Gray, and Crisp Cantaloupe Stampin' Write Markers. The flame was Crushed Curry. Just for fun I used the small star punch to punch out gold foil to accent the candles. The banner and button can be whatever you have on hand. Enjoy the fuss!

Bloom with Hope and Blendabilities Go Together!

This card layout was inspired by Dayanna Denny, but I made it my own by using some retired Designer Series Paper. The stamp set Bloom with Hope is a hostess set, but you can easily get it with a $150 party. All the stamps used in this card are from that set. This time I used the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities markers and just love the result! They are so fun to color with. The background leaves are stamped in Pear Pizzazz. The Cardstock used was Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black and Very Vanilla. The Cherry Cobbler striped grosgrain ribbon is also retired but luckily SU has brought back a very similar ribbon in it's current catalog. A thoughtful card to make for a friend.

Faux Washi Tape - You Can Do It too!

Erica Cerwin designed this beautiful card design, but I just had to CASE it! Using Daffodil Delight and Whisper White, with the Back to Black Designer Series Paper, a stunning card is the result!  I love how she used the DSP and cut it very narrow and tore the ends, so I think it looks like Washi Tape. So clever I thought!  You can have a lot of fun with the flowers too. If you have black buttons you can make Black eyed Susans, or if you have some black glimmer brads (retired) they would also make cool flower centers. Using the Black Baker's Twine also gives a lovely result. The stamp sets are Flower Shop and Sassy Salutations. The Pansy Punch  is what you need to cut the flowers out perfectly. I just love how this card POPS!

Paper Pumpkin Independence Day Wreath

Better late than never is my motto! I was inspired by Kathy Kartak's design and how she used her June Paper Pumpkin kit to make a cool wreath. So I decided to case her idea and make a wreath for myself. Lucky for me I happened to have a round wreath form hanging around and some leftover 1-1/2" wide navy blue satin organza ribbon from my daughter's wedding a few years ago, so I began!

I wrapped the wreath with the navy ribbon and hot glued it at the start and finish to hold it. I had some narrow navy blue ribbon I tied around the wreath to make a hanger. Then I cut lengths of the navy ribbon and just tied it once like a bow tie, so I could hot glue it between the pinwheels for filler.  I made the pinwheels and hot glued as I went around adding the ribbon as I went. The crowning touch was I used my giant rhinestones colored with red sharpie and stuck them to the middle of the large silver brad in the center of each pinwheel.  Because you have to have some "sparkle" for Independence Day!

Hang it up and Enjoy!

Work of Art Polka Dots

Another card layout CASEd from Natasha Zandbergen, but I changed up the colors and added a couple different items. The color scheme is Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, and Baked Brown Sugar. I rounded the corners using my Envelope Punch Board. The stamp set is Work of Art with Glorious Grunge used as a background on the small piece of Whisper White cardstock. I love the Thick Baker's Twine and adding the Candy Dot just adds the "ta-da" to the card.  Super easy but fun!!

New In-Colors for 2014-2016

I CASEd this card exactly from Michelle McGraw, except I added the Basic Black layer underneath the new In-Color layer, which I think helps set off the new In-Colors even better.  The new In-Colors are rich, deep colors and I just love their names - Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Tangelo Twist, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow. The new stamp set called Work of Art, has many new stamps with artsy brush strokes and they are going to be so versatile! The Decorative Dots embossing folder and white Baker's Twine add the finishing touches to this lovely card.

Blendabilities Blended Bloom

I was so excited when I learned that Stampin' Up! would be coming out with alcohol based markers called Blendabilities. I just had to try them. I CASED this card's layout from Natasha Zandbergen. The Blendabilities I used was the Coastal Cabana trio (light, medium, dark.) The card color scheme was Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, and Whisper White cardstock, accented with a doily, banner and the cool new Thick Baker's Twine.  The Modern Mosaic embossing folder gives the card just the right texture. The flower stamp is called Blended Bloom. The verse stamp is Sassy Salutations. Another cool thing you can do with the Blendabilities is you can color your rhinestones to match!!! I love it!

Birthday Cupcake Card

This card's layout was CASEd from Georgeann Manning, but I decided to use up some retired Designer Series Paper that I had on hand and work with colors I don't normally work with. The color scheme was Pink Pirouette, Brushed Silver, and the DSP had a base color of Wisteria Wonder, along with Whisper White for the verse and accents of Real Red.

Thanks for visiting!

Boots and Fringe Card - Yee Haw!

This card was CASEd from my friend, and Stampin' Up! Manager, Pam Stern. The only change I made was to add the second boot. Every boot should have it's mate, don't you think?

The new Fringe Scissors  (#133325, cost $9.95) are so fun to use and make cutting all sorts of layers very easy. My only hint would be to draw yourself a light line across your cardstock,
so you will know where to stop cutting!

The card was built on a base of Crumb Cake and the fringe layers were Early Espresso, Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede, and Baked Brown Sugar cardstock. The boots were stamped on Very Vanilla and colored with the Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker, plus the 2 way glue pen was used to attach the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. The separate boot was fussy cut out with the paper snips and layered on with Dimensionals. The Apothecary Art Framelits were used with the Big Shot to cut out the Very Vanilla layer and then an additional layer in Chocolate Chip was cut horizontally and slightly spread apart, again layered on to the care with Dimensionals. The finishing embellishments were the Rhinestones and the Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon (this one happens to be retired, but you could easily use the Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon that is in the current catalog.)

Hope this card inspires your creative juices to flow!
