Sunflower Gift Bag Tag

As part of my Curbside 2020 Annual Catalog Pick-up, I made these cute gift bag tags for my customers. Some of the other items I have included in the gift bag are shared in previous posts within the last week. The flower and jar image were inspired by an easel card Julianne Richards made.

The yellow gift bags came from the Dollar Tree and were 3 bags for $1.

The products that I used are listed below and will be available to order on June 3, 2020 at my online store. As a note - the Blends markers will also be sold in a combo set by color with one light and one dark pen for $9 at that time. The website that I use to generate these links has not yet updated the new catalog numbers for the combo blends sets (sorry).

Steps & Tips for making the gift tags:

1.  Cut the Cinnamon Cider cardstock lengthwise (portrait view) at 6-1/4" leaving a 2-1/4" x 11" scrap, then across the narrow side of the 11" x 6-1/4" piece (landscape view) at 2-3/4" intervals and you will get 4 tags per sheet.  THEN cut more strips of this cardstock for the scallop circle. I cut those widths at 2-7/8" x 11."

2. Cut the Whisper White cardstock for the plain circles at 2-3/4" x 11" strips. The die will be very close to the edges, be aware.  THEN cut more strips at 2-1/4" x 11" for the jar image. THEN cut 1/2" strips for the "Smile" tags.

3. I usually stamp first, then die cut, but this time I reversed that order, so that I could get both the scallop circle and plain circle strips die cut side by side at the same time through the Big Shot. That is a huge time saver when you are doing large quantities.

4.The Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper is a 6" x 6" paper stack so you can get 3 - 2" x 6" strips from each sheet of paper. (There are 4 sheets per design in the pack.)

5. I stamped the Sunflower bouquet image with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the Whisper White circle which helped with stamp alignment.

6. Stamp the jar stamp with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the Whisper White cardcstock strip - across side by side (not end to end) and you will have an easy time of punching them out. Then color a shadow on each jar with Light Gray Granite Blends. Next stamp the stems in the jar with Garden Green ink. Color inside the stems with Light Old Olive Blends. Punch each image out with the Jar Punch.

OPTIONAL WATER FEATURE:  If you like the blurry water effect on the stems. Use the Fine Tip Glue Pen and fill the lower half of the jar with the glue making sure there are no gaps or bubbles. Carefully set them aside to dry. This will take several hours to dry fully.

7. Color the bouquets with the remaining Blends as shown in the sample above.

Tag Assembly:

8. Trim a bit off  the bouquet circle as shown above with paper snips. 

9. Using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue, glue the jar top edge to the front of the scallop circle. Refer to image above. Next place the glue on the back of the bouquet circle and carefully place on the scallop circle/jar unit. Press together for a few seconds, then let dry some more.

10. As the Bouquet/Jar unit is drying, now is the perfect time to assemble the two layers of tag together with SNAIL adhesive. Make sure to leave a 1/4" margin at the top of the tag by lining up the bottom edges of the two papers.  You will be fussy cutting the bottom banner end with paper snips. Finish with punching a 1-4" circle at the top of the tag as shown.

11.  Stamp the word "Smile" with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the 1/2" strip of Whisper White cardstock for the DIY tag. I fussy cut the banner end after the word and cut the right corner off the top of the tag  before the word so it can hide under the bow. Put Dimensionals of the back of the tag.

12. If you are still waiting for the glue to dry, now is a good time to cut your two ribbons. The solid Bumblebee Ribbon is cut 9" long. I personally like to tie my bows while the  Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon is still attached to the spool (less waste that way.)

13. Once the bouquet/jar unit is dry enough to handle, use more of the Liquid Glue to attach it as shown on the prepared tag. Then add the "Smile" tag. Finish up by placing 2 glue dots with the Take Your Pick tool at the top edge of the "Smile" tag and stick your prepared Gingham bow on top. 

14. Let the completed tag dry well before attaching to gift bag. Thread the solid Bumblebee Ribbon through the hole at the top of the tag and tie around one of  the gift bag handles. So cute! A labor of love for my customers!
