Darling & Easy Holiday Treat Bags

Last weekend was time for another curbside garage pick up of the new August - December 2020 Mini Catalog at my home. A lovely group of customers were kind enough to drop by with masks on, to pick up their catalog and some goodies from me.  It was so great to see them in this Covid-19 time!

The Holiday Treat Bags below were one of the two treats my guests received that I designed. This new Celebration Tidings stamp set and Celebration Labels dies are perfect to make treat bags for multiple holiday occasions!  (Check back in the next few days to see the other little treat they received!)

LET'S CREATE:  First, prep the amount of clear envelopes you need by cutting off the adhesive flap portion, so you are left with just a pouch to fill with the Dollar Tree's Mrs. Field's chocolate chip cookies  (Yum-eee!) and hard Peppermint candies.

You can get 6 toppers from one sheet of the 12" x 12" Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Cut the sheet into 6 - 4" x 6" pieces and match one of the new Celebration Labels dies to best fit the 4" width. Run through your Big Shot/Die Cutting Machine. Score gently and fold the label in half to prepare the bag topper.

Repeat the cutting process with the next smaller die and the vellum cardstock pieces after you measure the die and decide upon the best layout usage of the vellum. I think I got 4 or 5 shapes from one 8-1/2" x 11" sheet. Score gently and fold the vellum label in half and slide on top of the DSP bag topper. (No adhesives are used.)

Next with the scalloped edge circle die, I die cut the amount I needed from Whisper White cardstock. Then I stamped the leaf in Pear Pizzazz ink, followed by Merry Christmas in Real Red ink. By cutting first, it allowed me to center both images.

FUN TIP! Only one staple hold the topper onto the filled clear envelope. I took both layers of the DSP and vellum and put them together on the top of the clear envelope bag, gathering the envelope slightly. I stapled through all layers where the tag should be placed to hide the single staple.  Using 2 dimensionals, I attached the circle tag over the staple centering it.  That's all there is to it!

These cute treat bags would be darling in a care package, as a favor at your holiday table, as an inexpensive gift to give co-workers, or as a thank you give for first responders even!

The products shown below will also be live that day in the "new & improved" online store that Stampin' Up! provides to me via my Demonstrator Business Website. I can't wait to see how much easier the online store will be to navigate and shop.

Celebrate Joy Christmas Card

Here’s a beautiful card your friends would be eager to receive! You can mass produce these if desired. Should be easy to mail and is definitely lightweight.

I was inspired by Lisa Mackey of Chase & Main. She created a card base using a large die from the Celebration Dies set, soon to be available on August 4th in the new August-December 2020 Mini Catalog.

LET'S CREATE:  I used the second to the largest Celebration Die which easily fits in a standard A2 envelope. Cut Real Red cardstock 4-1/4” x 11”, then score at 5-1/2”. Fold on score line. Place the die just a ¼” beyond the fold, so the fold will stay intact and a landscape card base will result. Run the die and cardstock through your Big Shot/Die Cutting machine.

Using the next smaller die, run a piece of Red Foil for the card front, and run a piece of Whisper White for the card interior through the Big Shot.  With the next smaller die, run one more piece of Red Foil through the Big Shot for the card back. The two pieces of Red Foil will be what covers up the 21” long piece of 3/8” Real Red Sheer Ribbon that wraps around the card and ties it closed. Fold the ribbon in half and secure with Scotch tape to the front and back of the folded card to hold it in place. Make sure the red foil will cover the scotch tape. The larger piece of red foil goes on the front, and the smaller piece on the back. Using Stampin’ Seal+ adhere the red foil to the Real Red cardbase carefully.

Cut a 3" wide x 2-3/4" tall piece of Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper and round the corners with the Envelope Punch Board or any other tool that will do the job. Adhere the Designer Series Paper to the card front.

With small pieces of Mossy Meadow, Whisper White and Red Foil, and Sizzix Adhesive Sheets (available from Amazon or Sizzix) you will create the triple layered “Joy” using the Joy Dies.  Put a piece of the Sizzix Adhesive sheet behind the Whisper White and a piece of adhesive behind the red foil prior to running the dies on the layers through the Big Shot. Peel the adhesive backing and carefully attach the white layer to the mossy meadow layer, finish by adding the red foil word  layer to the whisper white layer. With mini dimensionals place the “Joy” where you think it looks best on the card front.

Next, stamp “to the world” on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock with Real Red ink. When dry, fussy cut around the rectangle shape with paper snips. With mini dimensionals affix to card front at an angle.

Finish card front with some red sequins (available at any craft supply store) attached to the card front with mini glue dots.

On the interior Whisper White layer previously die cut out - use the holly leaves from the Peace & Joy stamp set to stamp in the upper left and lower right corners with Pear Pizzazz ink. Finish by stamping the holly berries  from the Peace & Joy stamp set in Real Red ink. Adhere layer to card interior.

Tie a bow with the ribbon to close the card.

Decorate your envelope as desired. (Remember – No naked envelopes!)

A Lil' Bit of Christmas Fun with Playful Alphabet

Are you counting down the weeks until Christmas? I am! Maybe this card duo will get you inspired to start making your Christmas cards! After seeing a wonderful card layout by "Stampin' through the Catalog" using the word "Hello," I knew I had to do a Christmas version. There are many holiday words you can create cards using the Playful Alphabet Dies and Foam Adhesive Sheets  that are coming out in the August-December Mini Catalog on August 4th

LET'S CREATE:  I especially like the fact that you get 2 cards from the effort of one group of words. I cut paper strips 1" x 3-3/4" which will give you a nice margin around the thick Whisper White card base. You are going to want to cut with paper snips, your foam adhesive sheets slightly smaller than the strip size, so the edges don't show. (I learned that the hard way!)  I positioned my strip on my grid paper so it would be easy to space out the dies. I used pieces of washi tape I had on hand, to lightly tape the dies to the cardstock.

By doing that, it was easy to place on my Big Shot base without moving the dies.  Be sure to place the dies cutting edges face up, with the cardstock/adhesive foam on top and run it through your Big Shot with the magnetic platform. It is very easy to see that you have cut through both layers of card stock and foam.

Be careful when peeling the washi tape off to remove the dies and not the top layer of the cardstock too. When you gently push the cut letters through to the back of the strip, be sure to hold onto the "O" and "R" center pieces as you will need them when you build these two cards.

ASSEMBLY: I used Balmy Blue ink with the snowflake stamp from the Flight of Fancy stamp set on the card shown above. Then I positioned the cardbase on my grid paper again, and fixed the 4 corners with washi tape to hold it in place.

I took a rectangular scrap of cardstock wider than the card front to use as my "ruler" with more washi tape on each end to tape to the grid paper, so I would have a straight edge to set the letters against.  Let me caution you, the foam adhesive is STICKY!  It is very difficult to peel up a letter if you accidentally put it in the wrong spot. Be very careful as you place the letters! I used my (retired) piercing tool to carefully set the letters where they needed to go. The Take Your Pick tool would also work great.

After all the letters were placed I thought the card needed a little something else, and the Santa hat from the Little Treats stamp set is perfect. Santa is jolly, right?! The Little Treat Box Dies includes the Santa hat die. It is difficult to see in the photo, but I also added some retired Snowflake sequins with liquid glue for an additional effect.
