Dashing Deer Z Fold Card

The Z Fold card layout is a great one to use for any occasion, as it stands up easily, and almost feels like a pop-out card as well. This card was inspired by Debbie Henderson.

All the products used are current except for the Dashing Deer Dies which are retired, but you could easily create a similar card with this color combination and layout using the matching Perfectly Plaid Stamp set and Tree Punch, or a wreath, or an animal punch (like the Stampin' Up! Moose Punch) or whatever else you think would look great. So this Z Fold allows you to make a quantity of card bases and customize the front with specific images for the intended recipient, to make a truly special holiday card.

Don't let this Z Fold be only for Holiday cards, though, it really is great for any occasion. Can't you see a pumpkin on the front for a Fall card, a birthday cake, a heart for Valentines, oh so many more ways to use this fold! The sky is the limit!

Dashing Deer Open Book Easel Card

This Open Book Easel card looks hard but it really isn't. The original design came from Tina Zinck, but I changed it up a bit and made it my own. In doing this sample and the idea that was in my mind, I did use two retired products - the Dashing Deer stamp set and the "very retired" gold lettered Designer Series Paper. I don't know the exact paper collection it came from because I've been saving this paper for way too long!

This card is not for mailing unless you put it inside a gift box first. You will need a larger envelope due to it's thickness, so why not make your own?

Triple Panel Celebrate Sunflowers Color Combos

If you ever need a quick and easy card FAST, try this layout idea. This triple panel card is so versatile you can use it with Designer Series Paper (DSP), stamp your own images or any other way you can think of to create 3 panels of lovely! I cased this layout idea from LeeAnn Greff who cased it from Barbara Graham. I experimented with adding the small sunflower from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set & Sunflower Dies and with a variety of  cardstock color combinations.

The five cards above were sent out for a small fall card swap I was part of.
With the exception of one card above, I thought the center stamped panel should be the color
of the card base with all the examples I made.

Here's the basics of making this easy card layout:
1. Begin with three coordinating colors of cardstock or DSP cut at 3-1/2" x 4-1/2".
2. Cut these pieces into three strips 1-1/2" wide x 3-1/2" tall. (You will have enough to make 3 cards.)
3. Mix the color strips until you are happy with how they look. With a small amount of tape adhesive affix them to the middle of a scrap piece of bond paper. Make sure each strip is touching side by side. That way when you stamp your chosen image you will get a good result. Remove them carefully from the bond paper.
4. Select and prepare 3 card bases that match your color scheme. (5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored/folded).
5. Cut a cardstock layer to match your color scheme 3-3/4" x 5". This will be the layer you arrange and affix your stamped strips to.
6. Decide on what ever additional image you'd like to use for the card front to go along with your greeting tag. Make 3 of those. Affix to card front. Add any embellishments you desire.

I hope this card idea will help you make some easy cards with supplies you have on hand. It's a good way to use up some smaller scraps you may have lying around.

Celebrate Sunflowers Thank You Card

Coloring with the Stampin' Blends is so fun and easy to do!  Be sure to check out my last post about the tricks to coloring with them. This card is my original design and it is easy to replicate. Give it a try!

Let's Create this Card!

Supplies Needed for Card
Stamps: Celebrate Sunflowers
Ink: Soft Suede, Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Thick Whisper White for Sunflowers, Soft Suede, Basic Black, Crushed Curry
Blends: Combos of Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede, Bronze, and the Color Lifter.
Embellishments: Non SU gold adhesive backed sequins
Accessories: Sunflower Dies, Big Shot or die cutting machine of your choice,  Watercolor Pencils both sets, Blender Pen, bone folder, paper trimmer, paper snips, mini-dimensionals, Seal adhesive, and glue dots.

Assembly Steps:
1. Cut Crushed Curry cardstock 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", score at 4-1/4". Cut strip piece 1/2" x 4".
2. Cut Basic Black cardstock 4" x 5-1/4"  and adhere to Crushed Curry cardbase.
3. Cut Soft Suede cardstock 3-3/4" x 5" and stamp large Sunflower stamp randomly all over in Soft Suede ink.
4. Stamp greeting on Crushed Curry strip and adhere to Soft Suede layer approximately 1-1/4" from bottom edge of card.
7. With a piece of Thick Whisper White stamp the sunflower and two leaves to color. With the Stampin' Blends start in the sunflower center and work your way to the petal edges, starting with darker colors first, going to lighter shades. Be sure to color over the previous edges to help them "blend in". The leaves were colored with the Watercolor pencils and blended with the Blender pen.
8. Using the Sunflower Dies, die cut out the sunflower and leaves with the Big Shot.
9. Using Glue Dots, stick the leaves to the back of the large sunflower where you want them. Secure them with scotch tape. Add Dimensionals all around the back of the flower and the leaves and adhere to card front so it slightly overlaps the greeting.
11. Finish with adding the gold sequins.

Celebrate Sunflowers 60th Birthday Card

A dear friend of mine received this card for her birthday recently, so now it is safe to share here. I just LOVE the Celebrate Sunflowers set and Sunflower Dies that Stampin' Up! put in the 2020 Annual Catalog. This card fits in a business size #10 envelope. It was fun to create a larger card for a change. The layout was cased from Cathy Autrey, but I twisted it up a little.

My experiment here was to practice my Stampin' Blends coloring skills. I learned beyond a doubt that you start with the darker color first and work your way to the lightest color. By doing that you can go over the darker color to soften the "hard" edge with the new lighter color. It's like magic!

The Happy Birthday stamp above was from one of the small sets I receive with my monthly Paper Pumpkin subscription. I needed "just" the right one! The faint dots used in the background came from the May 2019 Shelli Paper Pumpkin kit.

The inside uses the retired set Number of Years for the greeting and number stamps. My friend just LOVED her card. That made me so happy!

Let's Create This Card!

Supplies Needed for Card
Stamps: Celebrate Sunflowers, Number of Years (retired)
Ink: Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Whisper White (Thick for Sunflowers, Regular for card base usage), Basic Black, Old Olive
Blends: Combos of Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede, Bronze, and the Color Lifter.
Embellishments: Non SU gold adhesive backed sequins
Accessories: Sunflower Dies, Greenery Embossing Folder (hard to see but on the black strip behind greeting,) Big Shot or die cutting machine of your choice,  Watercolor Pencils both sets, Blender Pen, bone folder, paper trimmer, paper snips, mini-dimensionals, Seal adhesive, and glue dots.

Assembly Steps:
1. Cut Old Olive cardstock 8" x 9-1/4", score at 4".
2. Cut Basic Black cardstock 3-3/4" x 9"  and adhere to Old Olive cardbase front.
3. Cut Basic Black cardstock strip behind greeting 1" x 8-3/4" and emboss with Greenery Embossing Folder and Big Shot. Do not attach yet.
4. Cut Whisper White for inside 3-3/4" x 9" and stamp Crushed Curry sunflower, and greetings along with age number in Memento Tuxedo Black.
5. Cut Whisper White for card front 3-1/2" x 8-3/4"  and stamp Crushed Curry sunflowers all over, then fill in spaces with dot stamp in Crumb Cake ink stamped off once. Adhere to Basic Black layer on cardfront.
6. Cut Whisper White for birthday strip 5/8" x 4-1/4"  and stamp birthday greeting, leaving room to cut banner end with paper snips. Do not attach yet.
7. With a piece of Thick Whisper White stamp the sunflowers and leaves to color with Blends. As mentioned above, start in the center and work your way to the petal edges. The leaves were colored with the Watercolor pencils and blended with the Blender pen.
8. Using the Sunflower Dies, die cut out the sunflowers and leaves with the Big Shot.
9. Now adhere the Basic Black emboss strip to the card front where you think it looks best. With Mini-Dimensionals adhere the birthday greeting strip, but experiment with the layout of the sunflowers and leaves before you commit to finally sticking it down. The large sunflower is to cover the other end of the birthday strip.
10. Using Glue Dots, stick the leaves to the back of the large sunflower where you want them. Secure them with scotch tape. Add Mini Dimensionals all around the back of the flower and the leaves. With Seal adhesive lay the 2 smaller sunflowers down first, finally adding the large sunflower last.
11. Finish with adding the gold sequins.
