Awesome Paper Blooms Pocket Card

Have you tried a Pocket Card yet? It has been a long time since I made one. I was reminded of the card style by Debbie Henderson recently. The Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper is one of the items you can get FREE during Sale-a-Bration with a $50 purchase before tax and shipping. That's a value of $11.50!

Pocket Cards are a unique style. They will lean against a prop but won't stand on their own unless you have a very small easel to hold it. But that's okay, right? They are too cute to pass up making one, or several!

Another FREE Sale-a-Bration item used in this card is the Approaching Perfection stamp set. Approximate value $16.00.

The flat inner card pulls out of the "pocket" outer card.

Paper Blooms Fussy Cutting is FUN

If you LOVE Stampin' Up! like I do, then you look forward to Sale-a-Bration all year long. That's when Stampin' Up! gives away beautiful, exclusive products with a $50 purchase before shipping and tax. Shown below is one of those items -- Paper  Blooms Designer Series Paper! The 12 x 12 package with 2 sheets of each double sided design you get would cost $11.50 any other time of the year. That's like a 20% bonus to your order!

Don't pass this opportunity up!  You can place an online order with me easily by clicking any of the hyperlinks below.

The Sale-a-bration promotion will be ending on February 28.

When I saw this paper, I immediately could envision myself spending an evening with my paper snips watching television to do some fussy cutting of the Night of Navy background sheet of flowers. So that's what I did! Below are two of the cards I made with those fussy cut flowers. I think they look 3D. Do you?

Even though these cards look hard, they are not. Just Stamps, Ink and Paper.

Paper/Cardstock - Rococo Rose, Night of Navy, and Basic White
plus the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper

There are a variety of embellishments you could use. I used "All the Trimmings" that I had left over from the Aug. - Dec. 2020 Mini Catalog. You could use pearls or Elegant Faceted Gems easily.

The Cut Flowers were raised up with Dimensionals and/or Mini Dimensionals.

Place the flowers however they look pleasing to you. That's the fun of being creative.

So I hope these two original designs inspire you to place an order with me and get the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper FREE! Thank you!

Happy Stamping!

Borders to Backgrounds Set - Oh the Things You Can Do!

Hello! Thanks for taking a minute to read my blog entry for today. One of the new stamp sets in the January-June Mini Catalog is "Borders to Backgrounds" on page 30. It is a wonderful set that brings a lot of value because you can use it in a variety of ways! I'm sharing two card designs today to show two different ways to use this set.

Since Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, I immediately saw a Valentine's card with the heart border. Start at the bottom of the Basic White cardstock and in Real Red ink stamp and stagger the rows until a full background image is created. Since the border stamp is photopolymer it is very easy to see through. Lining things up is a snap!

A while back another papercrafter had shared a technique online I hadn't ever tried before. I thought this was the card to give it a go. The technique is simple - stamp your chosen ink color first, then stamp on top of the dried image with Versamark ink and sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder, heat set with the Heat Tool and the magic happens! (See 3rd close-up photo)

The card base is Real Red cardstock. The greeting comes from the Ridiculously Awesome stamp set. The greeting is stamped in Real Red ink and fussy cut around the edge. Mount the greeting on Basic Black for effect then fussy cut around that too with Paper Snips. The small Resin Heart embellishment is all the card needed for a finished look.

Don't forget to stamp something on the inside layer! That darling heart I stamped also comes from the Ridiculously Awesome stamp set. Two hearts to celebrate LOVE!

Close up of the Clear Embossing Powder technique. Cool, huh?
I am very pleased with my original design and how it turned out. Overall easy to do!

This next card design was inspired by LeeAnn Greff, I had to try her method for myself and it is very easy to do. Using the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper die cut out 1-1/2", 2", and 2-1/2" Circles from the Layering Circles Dies with the Cut & Emboss Machine. Cut each circle in half with the Trimmer

The Gray Granite card base has a layer of Basic Black on top.
Stamp the random small dots border twice diagonally in Petal Pink ink on the Basic White card base. Adhere that layer to the card front. The Square Vellum Doily goes down next.

Here's how to make the circle and strip unit. Glue the 3 circle halves stacked together as shown in photo. Repeat for other half circle stack. Prepare a Gray Granite 1/2" x 5" strip.
Use the Tailored Tag Punch by slipping the end of the strip into the punch so only the one end "arrow" would punch, then turn the strip around and punch the other end exactly the same. Next place the two sets of half circles underneath the strip just to make sure they fit before
stamping the greeting.

Stamp the "Just Because" from the Lovely You stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on the strip. Flip over and place adhesive on the back of the strip and carefully place the two circle stacks so the strip and the two circle stacks become one unit to match the photo. Raise the entire unit with Dimensionals and place on the prepared Basic White layer. Embellish with Elegant Faceted Gems.

If desired stamp the inner card layer with the small peony stamp in Petal Pink. Do the same for the lower left corner of the envelope front, because you don't want any "naked" envelopes!

Now you have two fun card designs to make with the Borders to Background stamp set.

Oh but wait! Here's a link to an earlier post that shows another card idea using this stamp set,
just scroll down a bit to see the photo.

All the hyperlinks in this post will take you directly to my online store for purchase.
Have fun trying these card designs! Happy Stamping!

Quick Valentines Card Layout for You

Earlier this month when my customers dropped by my garage for a "socially distanced" curb-side catalog pick up, I had a goodie bag waiting for them. With every catalog release one way I thank my customers for their loyalty is to include with their catalog(s) a party favor, some free "clearance rack" items, catalog wish list, class schedule, and this time I included parts and pieces for a make and take card with an invitation to join me on Zoom a few days later.

It was so much fun to see how everyone made their card from the same provided pieces.

Here's my sample, and yes, Valentines was on my mind.

Products I Used and Cutting Instructions:
Melon Mambo cardstock base - 5-1/2" x 8-1/2"
Basic White layer cut 4" x 5-1/4" then embossed with Painted Texture Embossing Folder
Blushing Bride strip - 2-1/4" x 5-1/4"
Basic White strip - 2" x 5-1/4"
Melon Mambo piece cut with Scallop Oval from Layering Ovals Dies
Basic White cut with oval Stitched Shape Die stamped in Melon Mambo ink with greeting of your choice.
Two retired from long ago - Melon Mambo Enamel Dots
Meant to Be Stamp Set -  filigree heart stamped with Melon Mambo ink, Blushing Bride ink and Flirty Flamingo ink in a random pattern.
Oval label was raised up with Dimensionals

Many of these items can be purchased at my online store.

Here's some of  the card my attendees made. Don't they look great?!

Peggy S. did a landscape view and changed the mat to Basic Black.

Cherie M. had fun with some flowers and added some Designer Series Paper for the envelope flap.

Suzanne L. went with some butterflies including on the envelope flap.

Sue V. also had a floral idea.

So there you go! A fun and quick card layout you can use over and over again. You could even substitute the embossing folder layer with some Designer Series Paper for a totally different look!
Give it a try!

Happy Stamping!

They are even better when you double the volume and put two together. That's so easy to do with the Seal+ adhesive.

Today I'm showing you three original and slightly different ways to decorate these boxes, but first I wanted a way to easily slide open the box drawer. I used a retired 3/4" circle punch to create the pull opening after I had assembled the drawer.
