3 Days of Last Chance Sale-a-Bration Ideas #3

Thanks to Demo Connie Stewart for sharing her Double Flap Fun Fold technique with Stampin' Up! Demonstrators around the globe. I just had to give it a try and you should too!

Since there are only a couple days left to earn Sale-a-Bration Rewards when you place an order, I was saving one last card I had fun making based on Connie Stewart's design.

Here's the products I used:

Basic Black Card Base Flat Panel
Extra full card base from January 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Sending Hearts just trimmed down a bit
Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper (DSP) along with fussy cut berry and flower images
Sweet Ice Cream stamp set for greeting,
stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
on Basic White strip
Small Bloom Punch
Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon adhered with Glue Dot
Retired Daffodil Delight Enamel Dots

This card design is for avid cardmakers, even though it isn't hard to make.
The Strawberries are fussy cut from the DSP, then I punched out the two flowers from the DSP and proceeded to trim one down for a layered effect.

Check out Connie Stewart's Video for the Double Flap Fun Fold technique.

You can earn the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper and Berry Blessings Stamp Set with a $100 product order before shipping and tax. That is a super value and a great investment for lots of cardmaking fun!

If you've missed the other two card designs this week just click back here for Monday and here for Tuesday's cards.

3 Days of Last Chance Sale-a-Bration Ideas #2

I was feeling a little springy so daisies and a butterfly came together in this lovely card for you today. This card is for the casual cardmaker.

Since Sale-a-bration is winding up on Feb. 28, I wanted to show you another fun way to combine two products to make a great card. The Sale-a-Bration products I used were Flower and Field Designer Series Paper (DSP) and A Touch of Ink stamp set.

Current products used were Daisy Lane stamp set and Medium Daisy Punch, Cardstock Vellem, Basic White Cardstock, Garden Green cardstock, Triple Banner Punch, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Pool Party Ink, Daffodil Delight ink, Daffodil Delight and Pool Party Stampin' Blends.

Retired Products - the Pool Party Enamel Dots. You can use whatever embellishments you have that look good to you.

Card Base is Basic White cut 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
Flower and Field DSP 4" x 5-1/4"
Bumblebee Polka Dot is the reverse side of one of the DSP sheets - cut 1-1/2" wide by 5" then the end was punched with the Triple Banner Punch.
Garden Green is 1-5/8" wide by 5" long, where I adhered the Polka Dot strip to the Garden Green, then fussy cut the banner end to match, then trimmed the banner to the length I wanted.

Here'a a close-up of the layers on the banner tag. The Butterfly was fussy cut out with Paper Snips and raised up with Dimensionals. The other three daisies were affixed together with glue dots and then more glue dots to the banner tag.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I love to be of service to my readers.

Happy Stamping!

3 Days of Last Chance Ideas #1

This first round of Sale-a-Bration 2021 is coming to an end on Feb. 28, so I wanted to share three of my "last chance" card ideas over the next three days with my readers.

Today's design is for the casual cardmaker. I am highlighting the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper, the Punch Party Stamp Set, and the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch.

The Colors used were Pacific Point cardstock and ink, and Poppy Parade ink. Inside the card, the liner is Basic White with a 1/2" strip of the Designer Series Paper added for accent. I fussy cut the strawberries and leaves out of the Designer Series Paper. The only retired item I used was the enamel dots from long ago (I bought way too many of those, but they are coming in handy every now and then!)

Each piece of the card front DSP is 2-5/8" x 4"
The accent strip is 1" x 4"
Basic White liner is 4" x 5-1/4" and a scrap for the tag

Here's some additional details:
The Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper is part of a set matched with the Berry Blessings Stamp Set that you can earn free with a $100 US order before shipping and tax.
The Punch Party Stamp Set is a free item if you host a workshop or have your own wish list that has combined sales or order total of $300 US or more before shipping and tax.

Go to my online store to purchase items that are on your stamping wish list, so that you can earn one or more of these free Sale-a-Bration items before the promotion ends.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Happy Stamping!

Don't Miss out on this Opportunity!

This current joining promotion ends Feb. 28, 2021

Stampin' Up!® is much more than stamps, ink, and paper: We’re a worldwide community dedicated to building meaningful relationships, inspiring creativity and confidence, and making a difference in people’s lives.

Being part of Stampin' Up! is way more than a Hobby for me! I often get asked why I chose to join Stampin' Up! 10 years ago. Honestly, it was for the creative break from a very tough year at my job, the 1/2 price kit promotion, the discount with future purchases, and that I could choose what I wanted in my Starter Kit since I had already been stamping a while. Stampin' Up! doesn't force you into a "one size fits all" Starter Kit! Being able to choose my own Starter Kit was a BIG DEAL to me. When I shop I want to pick what I want and need and Stampin' Up! let me do that. They still encourage folks who join to pick items that will work for them.

After I joined, the next year I attended my first Stampin' Up! convention in Salt Lake City. I learned there I had the opportunity to build a business that would fill my heart with joy! I met so many wonderful, and friendly people at that first convention. Now 10 years later, I have been to multiple events and met a wonderful group of people who I call my friends both online and in person.

Every demonstrator has a purpose for joining this great company. Many join for the discount, and the discount is a good reason to join. I mean why not get the craft supplies you already love at a discount? Maybe you want to make some new friends. Or scratch your creativity itch with the best products available. Or eventually build a thriving business on your terms. Whatever your purpose, Stampin' Up! can help!

You get to pick out $125 worth of products for $99 plus sales tax and free shipping. Plus right now you
receive the Bonus shown below.

I have always loved number crunching so let me show you the numbers of why it
makes sense to join the Stampin' Up! family and my team during this promotion.

$125 US of product of your choice
$57.50 US Bonus for 5 packs of 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper
Plus Stampin' Up! adds $50 worth of Business Supplies
$20.35 US of free Shipping

A Value of $252.85
You Pay only $99 plus sales tax
(This is a better deal than the 1/2 price kit I got when I joined!)

Add to that a Discount of 20% (or more!) off all future orders
Being part of a team of awesome people (Priceless!)

Why would you not join?

I'm here to support you along your journey. I have monthly team meetings, I'll do my best to answer all your questions. I look forward to working with you!

Welcome, Welcome!

Sending Hearts - Jan. 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit Alternatives

Here's my Paper Pumpkin Alternatives that I made with the January 2021 Sending Hearts Kit.  Since I managed to miss Valentine's Day with this kit, I thought of some other ways this kit could be used.

Color Theme in this Kit was Poppy Parade and Petal Pink. I chose to add Basic Black and Gold Foil.
I made two of each design shown below for a total of 18 items from 8 card bases. Now that's a good value for my money!

This is the Basic Kit that came in the mail.

There was a treat box add on kit that I purchased and I had a few snails with the blue shells left over, so I adapted them into this card design.

This is how you fix a poorly stamped image. My Poppy Parade ink pad needed reinking, but I was lazy and hadn't done that yet, so I got a crummy image. Here's how I covered it up!

Here's a whole different direction, but I thought the Petal Pink striped card base would look great with the Wildly Happy stamp set and turning this idea into a baby card.

Another demo shared how to turn a cardbase into a clam shell box idea, so I had to try it!

Demo Connie Stewart recently showed how to make a Double Flap Fun Fold card, so here I used half of a card base to make this card with the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper (DSP), and the greeting from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set. Those strawberries were fussy cut form the DSP!

Thanks for taking a peek today!

How to Get Started with your Stamps, Clear Blocks and Ink Pads

Did you ever play with rubber stamps when you were a child? I did. I had an alphabet set to make words with. There were also those little small round stamps that had a lid the stamp sat in that were self-inking somehow. That was always magical to me, how it kept stamping no matter what. My parents had a little return address stamp that also self inked in it's little rectangular holder. When I was teaching, the PTA gave every teacher their own self-inking signature stamp. That was a handy gift. It's no wonder I love stamps so much to create beautiful cards and projects with nowadays. They have been part of my life forever!

Q: What are stamps like today?

A:  Rubber Stamps used to come only one way - red rubber mounted on a wood block. Those types can still be had via Ebay and Etsy. But stamps have improved so much over the last 10 years. Stampin' Up! now only sells two kinds (except for background stamps can still purchased on wood blocks).  Red Rubber stamps are now called "Cling" because of how great their stamp labels stick to the Clear Stamping Blocks and Photopolymer (a see-through plastic) that also sticks well to the Clear Stamping Blocks.

The biggest reason wood stamps have fallen out of favor is they were very difficult to know exactly where you were stamping without the assistance of extra tools. (Ever heard of a Stamp-a-ma-Jig?) But now you can see so much better where your images are going, thanks to clear blocks and better stamps.

Q: How do I attach the cling stamp labels to the red rubber/foam cushion portion?

A: You need to watch my five minute video on how to mount your cling labels on your stamps perfectly.

Q: Is there more I should know about the two types of stamps?

A: Yes, this next 2 minute video shows you more things to know.

Q:  How do I know which size clear block to place my stamp on?

A: This two minute video shows how to choose the right sized clear stamp block.

Q: How do you open these strange looking ink cases?

A: Watch this two minute video to help you learn how to open the ink pad cases.

One thing that I forgot to mention on the video was the reason the ink case design is the way it is, is so the ink will stay on the top of the foam pad and be ready for use.

Q: How do I stamp the actual image on the cardstock?

A: THIS IS SERIOUSLY THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP OF THIS ENTIRE POST!!!

(I don't know about you, but as a child playing with my alphabet stamps and the black cloth ink pad in its metal case, I would smash the stamp into the ink pad so hard the edges of the wood block would be stained permanently.)

This is NOT how you use the Stampin' Up! foam ink pads. If you follow my recommendation below you will save yourself time, aggravation, stamp halos on your cardstock, and inky fingers.

To get a clean stamped image every time, do a light TAP, TAP, TAP moving the stamp around on the foam pad with each tap. Then turn the stamp over to look at the amount of ink on the stamp. If it is completely, evenly covered, then place your stamp down on the cardstock where you want it to go. Press straight down solidly without any rocking/tipping movement. Count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, then lift up your stamp and block. 99.9% of the time you will have a CRISP AND CLEANLY STAMPED IMAGE.

If for some reason you don't have that result, remember your cardstock has two sides, just flip it over and try again. Practice makes perfect!

Alright the time has arrived! You are have cut your cardstock and scored the fold, so you are ready to make your first card with stamps, paper, and ink. Have fun!

Q: How do I clean my stamp after I've used it?

A: You always need to clean your stamp after each time you use it. You have two choices available from Stampin' Up!.  The Simply Shammy is gaining favor because it is so portable and you only need this one tool to clean your stamp. (Don't use it with Stazon Ink, there's a special cleaner for that!)

Or the method I've been using most of my stamping career is the Stampin' Scrub and the Stampin' Mist. This combo works well too. After you have cleaned a lot of stamps on your Scrub, you can rinse the Scrub under warm water and watch all the ink and mist go down the drain. Just let it air dry overnight.

After you have cleaned your stamps, put them away in the stamp case so you won't misplace any. Wipe off and store your clear blocks with a terry washcloth or kleenex for next time!

Finally, an artist always signs their masterpiece and you should too! So sign the back of your card and put the year made.

TA-DA! You've made your first card! Congratulations!

Paper Chart Reference and Cutting Card Bases Diagrams

Hurray! You've made the decision to add Papercrafting to your list of hobbies.
You've started to think about what to purchase first from yesterday's post.

Becoming knowledgeable about the types of paper in the Stampin' Up! world is a must. I put together this reference chart for you to know how each paper can be used. In basic terms, the weight of each paper refers to it's thickness and sturdiness, not what one package of paper weighs. Thank goodness that's not the case, because postage would be cost prohibitive. LOL!

Please note that Stampin' Up! sells dyed cardstock, meaning when you tear the cardstock it is the same color throughout. That's a very good thing!

When you purchase cardstock from the big box craft stores, sometimes those papers have a white core when you tear it. That's not so good for die-hard papercrafters. We love solid colored core paper!

The quality of Stampin' Up! paper is excellent, because you don't have to worry about ever having to deal with any white peeking through when you cut it to size, EVER!

----------------------------

After you purchase your Stampin' Up! cardstock, you'll need to know how to cut it correctly with your new Paper Trimmer to make card bases for your cardmaking.

There are two ways to cut cardstock into basic card bases. Two card bases can be made from one sheet of 8-1/2” x 11”  “letter size” cardstock. You can fold the card by hand and crease using your fingernail, or you can use a scoring board

with stylus to create the indentation, then align the edges, fold and crease with a bone folder.

By cutting the sheet of cardstock in half, then folding in half again you have created a card base. This folded quarter sheet look is called an A2 size.

“Portrait” cards, stand 4-1/4” wide by 5-1/2” tall. The fold can either be on the left side (opens like a book) or at the top (stands like a tent.)

“Landscape” cards, stand 5-1/2” wide by 4-1/4” tall. The fold can either be on the left side (opens like a book) or at the top (stands like a tent.)

For both diagrams below:

Red Line is cutting line.

Dashed Line is scoring and folding line.
This cutting diagram above makes portrait/book cards, or landscape/tent cards.

This cutting diagram makes portrait/tent cards, or landscape/book cards.

------------------------------------

I hope by providing this information it will be helpful to your papercrafting journey.
Come back tomorrow to learn about proper stamping procedures, so you'll be successful (practically) every time!

Thanks for visiting today!
