Turn Stampin' Up!s He's the Man Designer Series Paper into a Fun Masculine Birthday Card by Doing Repeated Multiple Shapes

If you are at a loss for some easy masculine cards to make, then this idea is for you!  You can use any masculine patterned paper you have on hand. Plus choose a punch that you have and punch a selection of the chosen patterns that can be arranged on a Basic White cardstock layer.

I used He's the Man Designer Series Paper, and a Cajun Craze cardstock card base. What's so fun about the He's the Man paper is it comes with two sheets of masculine sayings that you can easily punch out and use in your cardmaking, either on the face of the card or on the inner layer. The punch I used was the retired Starburst punch (which you may find on Ebay or Etsy, or other selling sites).

Here's some of the punch outs you can choose from.

Retired Starburst Punch

This card goes together quickly! Here's the steps:

1. Start with your Cajun Craze cardbase cut 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". 

2. Cut two pieces of Basic White cardstock 4" x 5 1/4" for the cover and inner layers.

3. Once you have your shapes punched out, arrange them on the Basic White layer to see how they fit. If some of the punch outs hang over edge that's ok, you can trim off the excess once you have them adhered down.

4. Adhere the prepared front layer to the card base. Adhere the inner layer inside the card for your personalized message.

5. Finish off your card front with whatever sentiment, tag or punch out you have. Embellish as desired.

Make a bunch to have on hand for the guys in your life!

Flip the Script! Use Stampin' Up!s Picture This Die to Make This Easter Card Background! So Easy, Give it a Try!

Here's a fun and modern Easter card idea for you!

You do ever have a moment where a new idea of something to try just pops in your brain? That's what happened with this card design. I was using the Picture This Dies for another project, and it occured to me to use the left over circles in a new card design. So that is how this Easter card came into being. 

It was one of the cards my customers made in my March Card classes. We used the reverse side of a sheet of the Rain or Shine Designer Series Paper. One side was gray with rain drops but the other side was this glorious watermarked pattern in mainly Flirty Flamingo. I fell in love with the paper and especially how these circles look once they were die cut out.

SUPPLIES USED:

Soft Suede cardstock 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2"

Flirty Flamingo cardstock layer 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"

Basic White cardstock layer 3 3/4" x 5"

Rain or Shine Designer Series Paper 4" x 5" with pattern shown in photo.

Picture This Dies to result in the six circles (use the left over frame for a new card!)

Basic White cardstock for inner layer 4" x 5 1/4"

Easter Bunny Stamp Set - piece of Soft Suede cardstock 3" square stamped with Soft Suede ink for bunny. Then use the Easter Bunny Punch to punch out the bunny.

Soft Suede ink using whatever Easter stamp set you own for greeting in upper right corner of the front Basic White layer.

Scrap of Basic White, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Colored pencils for floral bunny collar, then fussy cut it out and glue to bunny neck.

Add Brushed Brass Butterflies - use two or three

Linen Thread tied around the fold of the "tent" card 

Don't forget to add a 2 3/8" x 6" piece of matching Designer Series Paper for the exterior envelope flap, adhere, and trim off excess.

I encourage you to explore your creativity using a repeated geometric shape in your card making designs.

Create This Darling Bunny Silhouette by Using the Easter Bunny Punch along with the Cane Weave Embossing Folder. Super Cute, Super Fun!

Need an easy Easter card? This is it! 5 pieces of paper total! The cute Easter Bunny punch, the Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder, some coordinating ink, a favorite Easter stamp and a little bit of ribbon plus a few embellishments, along with your usual adhesives! What could be easier!

Start with a Blushing Bride cardstock card base cut 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" so it makes a tent card in the landscape view.

Cut Soft Suede 3 3/4" x 5". In order to have the bunny going in this direction you need to decide which side of your cardstock will be the back and you put the back into the punch so the bunny will end up going the other direction when the soft suede is flipped over.

After the bunny is punch, now is the time to put your soft suede into the Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder and run it though your die cut machine.

Measure the bunny opening and cut a 3" (or larger if needed) square piece of your favorite spring print Designer Series Paper. I used the Country Floral Lane Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the current Spring Mini Catalog. Adhere  around the edge of the bunny opening. then adhere the Soft Suede layer to the card front.

With a scrap of Basic White about 3/4" x 4", stamp your favorite Happy Easter greeting on it in coordinating ink. My ink was Sweet Sorbet. Cut a banner end with paper snips and place on dimensionals on the card front.

Select a 1/4" width ribbon for the bunny's bow. I used White 1/4" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. The bow was affixed with a glue dot. Finish with three Polished Pink 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds.

Add an inner layer of Basic White cut 4" x 5 1/4" for your personal message and adhere inside the card.

If you'd like a decorated envelope flap, cut a matching piece of DSP 2 3/8" x 6" and adhere to the exterior envelope flap. Trim off excess and you are all done!

Now you have made a darling Easter Card for a family member or friend. It will be easy to mail if you need to mail it. They are going to LOVE receiving it.

Create a Good Luck Shades of Green Quilt Card for St. Patrick's Day with your Stampin' Up! Patterned Papers.

I love quilts both to sew, and make as a card. So I thought this card quilt might be fun to try for St. Patrick's Day today. It all starts with cutting or punching 1 1/4" squares. Prepare a variety in various shades of green paper that you have in your stash.

Then select one of the shades as your card base color. Mine is Old Olive. Then cut a Basic Black layer 4" x 5 1/4". Next will be the Basic White layer you'll make your paper quilt on 3 3/4" x 5".

I have a black mat on my craft desk that has a 45 degree diagonal line on it, so I lined up my Basic White piece and drew a light pencil line with a ruler from the lower left corner to wherever it stopped on the upper right side. Having the line there helped me line up my squares. 

At first I was going to put them edge to edge, but decided against that when I saw I would end up with tiny bits at the outer edges and I didn't like that. The squares are spaced a little less than 1/8" apart. When you get done laying out your colors the way they look good to you, then start adhering them to the Basic White. You will have squares that hang over the edge and need to be trimmed off with paper snips.

Once the quilt layer is done, adhere to the Basic Black layer. Tie the Black and White Gingham ribbon around the layers. Affix the bow with a glue dot to hold in place.

I stamped the 1/2" strip of Basic White with the "good luck" from the retired Special Moments stamp set. I had used a 1 1/4" square punch for my quilt squares so that is how I got the tag to fit precisely in the center square raised up on mini dimensionals. I added two retired Holiday Rhinestone Jewels in the green color at the point end of the tag.

Good Luck Gnome Flying a Clover Kite for St. Patrick's Day

 Happy St. Patrick's Day! I donned my lucky scarf to share with you this darling gnome who'se flying his shamrock kite to bring you good luck for St. Patrick's Day!

You can make this easy card if you happen to have either Stampin' Up!s recently retired Storybook Gnomes Designer Series Paper that you can fussy cut a cute preprinted gnome from or maybe you have the current Friendly Gnomes stamp set where you can stamp a cute gnome in matching colors to the shade of green Designer Series Paper that you choose. 

My piece comes from the retired Celebrate Everything Designer Series Paper. It is layered on Basic White and Pear Pizzazz cardstock layers on a Basic White card base. I finished up this cutie with four small gold foil punched hearts topped with a gold gem and used some yellow bakers twine with a gold metallic thread in it for the kite string. 

My gnome is mounted on a very retired piece of Pear Pizzazz foil, and the good luck is stamped from the retired Special Moments set. Simple but cute! Give something like this a try with what you have in your crafting stash.

DIY Easy St. Patrick's Day Craft for You to Make

With St. Patricks Day arriving later this week, it is always fun to whip up a little craft to add to your home holiday decor. I suggest you give this idea a try. Cute but inexpensive to make.

This decor piece can hang on the wall in your home, or sit in a tier tray display. The approximately 3" x 5" little box is from Dollar Tree, but any small Dollar Tree frame will do.

Dive into your stash of patterned paper and find some greens that go well together. Select one pattern to fill the back of the frame and glue in place. Add another piece for a narrow strip to help anchor your greeting.

Then to make your clover you will need a heart punch or heart die. I used 5 hearts per "leaf" of the clover. Fold all 5 hearts in half carefully and glue 4 halves together, so you end up with a flat back that will be glued to your background paper. Once you have 3 "leaves" made, cut a little freehand stem and arrange to you liking in your frame and glue the clover parts down including the stem. Fashion a tag to your liking and add to the design along with some "bling" to help everything look good together. All done! So cute!

For this month's Blog Hop, I decided to try a Diorama card. The best part about this design is it will fit in an A2 sized Envelope (4 3/8" x 5 3/4"). It may require extra postage due to thickness, so be aware. Isn't it cute though? It should cheer up any friend who may be experiencing winter funk.

SUPPLIES NEEDED, CUTTING DIRECTIONS & ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS AS YOU GO

Animals: First select one of the Rain or Shine DSP sheets with the animals on them. Select two different animals, prefereable facing different directions so they can be "looking" at each other in the scene. With your Paper Snips, carefully fussy cut them out. Set aside for now.

Back and Sides of Card base: Balmy Blue Cardstock - cut 4 1/4" x 9", scored at 3/4, 1 1/4", 1 3/4", 7 1/4", 7 3/4', 8 1/4"

Back Layer:  Rain or Shine DSP (flowers and sky sheet) cut 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Adhere to center back section  so it will set the scene for the Diorama.

Front of Card base:

Prepare two pieces: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" of Balmy Blue cardstock, and 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Balmy Blue Polka Dot DSP from the 6" x 6" Subtles DSP Assortment. Adhere those two layers together only on the 4 outer edges. With your Die Cutting machine, position the Layering Diorama Die using my photo for reference and run through the machine - use the 3rd largest die. The two pieces that are cut out can be saved for another project if you desire.

Tag: Cut a 3/4" x 4" piece of Basic White Cardstock. With Memento Tuxedo Black Ink stamp the "you're in my thoughts" sentiment from the Best Family Ever Photopolymer Stamp Set using

Clear Stamp Block D. With your Paper Snips cut banner ends to shorten the tag piece to your liking. Apply 3 large Dimensions to the back, but hold for now. 

Putting it all Together: 

Step 1: Apply Tear and Tape to the back side of the front diorama piece, but only on the left and right sides, as those will be attaching to the left and right folded portions of the back section. Do not peel off the backing just yet. Practice holding the card front onto the back folded sides of the card and you most likely will see a bit of the left and right back portion sides peeking through the front of your diorama die cut. 

To fix this, take your paper snips and carefully trim back just the portions of the back tabs until they don't show when you hold the front on. Once you are happy, remove the left side Tear and Tape covering from the back left side of the front diorama piece. Carefully apply it to the left side back tab, aligning it well.

Step 2: Now we will place Dimensionals on the back of the chosen animal that will be inside the diorama scene. Practice laying your tag inside and see where it looks the best. Once happy, peel off the dimensionals on both pieces and affix to the back scene.

With Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue, carefully apply the glue on your other animal that will be half on and half off the left edge of the front diorama edge (refer to photo.)

Step 3: Now you can peel off the backing from the other piece of Tear and Tape and bring the right side of the front and back pieces together carefully aligning them to finish forming your diorama. Depending on which animals you chose, apply Rhinestone Jewels in/on the scene until you are happy.

Step 4: Using a Medium Basic White Envelope and 6" x 6" Subtles DSP Assortment cut a 2-3/8" x 6" piece, affix and trim the exterior rear flap of the envelope. All done!

P.S.  A couple suggestions for you: 1) Add a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White to the back of the card to write your message, 2) Add a full "tent" (landscape) card base to the back of the card for more standing support and to have a longer message area.

Pinwheel Technique Used for St. Patrick's Day Card Idea

St. Patrick's Day is coming later this week, so I felt like having a little fun here. This card is so shiny like a Pot of Gold! It definitely has an abundance of dots and spots all over it too! The little Leprechauns helped me design this wacky card layout.

The main focal point is the Pinwheel technique which is really easy to do using eight 1 1/4" squares. I used two different sheets from the Regals 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper assortment.

For the base - Cut two squares 2 5/8" of Gold Foil and using your grid paper placemat, position them so all 8 points are precisely aligned. Once you have that, then go ahead and adhere them together. 

Lay your 1 1/4" squares out as shown in the diagram above. You will carefully only adhere half of the each square to the base, with the last square being slid under the 7th square and ending up over on the 1st square. I suggest you practice before doing any adhering so you understand the pinwheel well.

I did my pinwheel a little different, by gluing just the squares together using my grid paper, then I mounted on a Gold Foil layer, with careful fussy cutting the edges until it looked good. 

With another scrap of gold foil I punched out four mini hearts, adhered with glue dots to the center of the pinwheel and finished off with a Gilded Gem.

The card base is Stampin' Up!s Shaded Spruce color (my fav!) with a layer of (retired) Pear Pizzazz foil die cut with the (retired) Spots and Dots die. I suggest to use a sticky lint Tape Roller to get all those dots out before they fall on the floor or stick to your clothes!

Once that is adhered to the card front, mount your pinwheel on dimensionals and affix as shown in the photo.

The lucky day stamp came from (retired) Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set stamped in Shaded Spruce ink on Basic White, then punched out with a 1" circle punch and mounted on a 1 1/4" circle punch also raised up with Dimensionals.

Finish up your card by applying a 4" x 5 1/4" Basic White layer inside the card for your personal message. Adhere and trim some matching Shaded Spruce Designer Series Paper 2 3/8" x 6" to the exterior flap of the envelope.

Sharing Sunshine and Smiles February 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit Alternate Creations

If you are new to card making, then subscribing to a Paper Pumpkin kit is the perfect way to try out the monhtly kits without making a large investment. The bonus is if you are feeling creative you can make alternates or make the cards just like the directions say. The choice is up to you!

The February Sunshine and Smiles Paper Pumpkin kit had a lot of alternative possibilities. I cased parts of a couple cards and the rest are what I came up with using the supplies in the box plus some additional cardstock and products I had in my stamp room.

Feminine Birthday Card

Polished Pink card base, with plaid Flirty Flamingo layer with precut oval (I cut the included card base apart.) Last fall there was a Fitting Florets Collection offer which I purchased. There was Fitting  Florets Designer Series Paper from which I fussy cut some of the floral images (raised on Dimensionals) and used a piece behind the oval. The tag used the Framed Florets stamp set for the greetings, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Embellilshments were from the kit.

When you are fussy cutting out flowers from Designer Series Paper, always cut out the edge flowers too, because you can do something like this idea on the inner layer.

Hello Card

Using another card base cut apart, I added a piece of the A Day at the Farm Designer Series Paper that was available during the just finished Sale-a-Bration behind the Balmy Blue plaid sheet. They both were adhered to a Balmy Blue card base. I stamped "hello" on the included cloud, added the rain drop embellishments, and raised the included frog image on the opposite corner. 

Cheerful Card

By cutting the rainbow card base in half vertically, I could get two pieces of rainbows to use in two different cards. The rainbow was carefully mounted behind the gray layer, on a Mango Melody card base. The rest of the cute art were all included in the kit.

Friendship Card

Using the back of one of the provided card bases, I adhered it to a Basic Gray card base. Added the green sloping piece. Then I carefully trimmed the base of the connected flowers so they would curve on the slope. Mr. Turtle was the perfect companion to finish this card.

Encouragement Tri fold Card

This tri-fold card idea was cased, but I still made it my own. One of the envelope liners was turned into one of the outer third panels, see next photo. I stamped the sun with a mask to protect the rainbow using Mango Melody ink. The attached tag was carefully glued on the small outer edges of the mango plaid paper to appear to lay on the rainbow.

On the left side is the envelope paper folded in. It has the rainbow piece on the reverse.

The attached envelope piece is on the left in this photo.

In the center you can see the back of the floating tag.

Finish the card with applying some of the included clouds creatively.

The only part that is a little wonky is the actual folding of the trifold. The envelope paper gets folded first, then the rest of the card closes around it.
