Make This Festive Happy Birthday Cactus Card Using Stampin' Up!s Taco Fiesta Stamp Set! Ole'!

Even though we are nearing the end of May, it is always a good time to be festive with your cardmaking. Give this card layout a try. You'll want to have some chips and salsa when you finish it!

I was inspired by Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Kathy Clark's idea, but I changed up the layering technique under the cacti in the center of the card front using the Basic Border Dies.

The Birthday greeting below is from one of my previous Paper Pumpkin stamp sets, but you can use any Happy Birthday stamp you have.

Below you can see how the zig-zag strips are layered one on top of the other. Start in the middle with a different pattern of Designer Series Paper (polka dot) and adhere that down. After you die cut out all your zig-zag strips, only apply adhesive to the straight edge bottom of each strip.

Place your "red" strips 1/8" away from the top and bottom of the "turquoise" layer. Then the process is to slide the next "purple" strips under the red layer aligning with the left and right-side margins. Repeat for the "lime" strips.

The center cacti tag has the shown images stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Then color with assorted Stampin' Write Markers. Using a 1/8" hole punch, punch two holes next to each other in the upper left area of the Basic White Circle. Cut three 8" strips of the 1/8" Metallic ribbon. Fold each ribbon piece in half and thread folded middle through the punched hole and loop the two loose ends through the loop and pull snug. Repeat with the other two pieces. Then adhere the larger red circle to the Basic White circle and raise the two layer tag up on dimensionals.
